Chivalry in Russian Cultural Memory

The lecture is devoted to the issue of chivalry in Russian cultural memory. It will focus on the perception of chivalry and chivalric ideas in Russia. It will also raise the question of whether chivalry existed in Russia, and if it did not what that would mean for Russian culture.

Svetlana Luchitskaya is a specialist in the field of the history of Crusades and Christian-Mulsim perceptions. She is the author of the book Image of Islam in the Crusader Chronicles: The Image of the Other. She has published in several scholarly journals – Moyen âge, Cahiers de civilisation médiévale, Journal of Medieval History, Al-Masaq, etc. Dr. Luchitskaya collaborated on the Dictionary of Medieval Culture (under the direction of Aron Gurevich). At present she is the head of the department for historical anthropology and the vice editor-in-chief of the review “Odysseus. an in History. She is also the member of the Society for the Study of the Crusades and the Latin East.
